McLernon Computers are Ireland's leading providers of pharmacy IT systems and business solutions and the only vendor to have pharmacy systems in every university in Ireland, north and south.
Recognising the need to invest in the pharmacists of tomorrow, McLernons donated their MPS system to Ireland's newest pharmacy centre of learning – the Saad Centre for Pharmacy and Diabetes at the University of Ulster in Coleraine.
The University has welcomed its first cohort of students from both sides of the border onto the first year of the MPharm programme, which will receive full accreditation from the Pharmaceutical Societies when these students graduate.
Graham Henderson, Operations Director, McLernons, said, " McLernons were delighted to make this donation to the University of Ulster, as its pharmacy graduates will be familiar with our MPS dispensing system and will find the transition from academia to the reality of the community pharmacy an easy one."
Professor Paul McCarron said, "Having an authentic community pharmacy learning environment was a key part of our thinking when designing the University facility. This kind donation of the McLernon's MPS complements that authenticity by ensuring graduates have familiarity with a leading pharmacy IT system used in Ireland."
