PHARMACY ADVISOR OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2009

Following the success, popularity and recognition of the Vichy Pharmacy Advisor of the Year Awards 2008, Vichy launched the nationwide competition to discover the Pharmacy Advisor of the Year 2009 and recently announced the winners at the glamorous awards ceremony in the Royal Marine Hotel Dun Laoghaire.

Vichy created these awards to recognize and reward the Dermo-Advisor for their excellent customer service and hard work throughout the year and to promote and improve the service and skincare advice which consumers receive from their Dermo-Advisor in the pharmacy.

Vichy is available in over 700 pharmacies nationwide out of which 100 pharmacy advisors were nominated for the 10 prizes of which top prize was a trip to the town of Vichy in France to avail of treatments in the spa and to visit the Lucas spring where Vichy Spa water originates.

The Winner of the 2009 Vichy Dermo Advisor of the year was:

Nearly 70% of Irish women incorrectly diagnose their skin type and therefore risk choosing incorrect products which provide disappointing results. The role of the Dermo-Advisor in pharmacy is vital in assisting Irish women in diagnosing their skin type and choosing the correct product. It is fast becoming an Irish habit to shop in pharmacy in order to seek expert independent advice: a study conducted by Landsdowne Market Research in June 07 interviewed over 520 Irish women across all ages and revealed that pharmacy is already the Number 1 choice of destination for a majority of Irish women to purchase skincare: 48%, followed by supermarkets (15%), Boots (15%) and department stores (11%).

With the restricted availability to dermatologists (less than 50 consultant dermatologists in Ireland Vs 1,800 in France for example), Irish women are increasingly turning to their pharmacy and the pharmacy staff is naturally filling that gap of access to advice on how to care for your skin. Since Irish pharmacies are locally accessible and stock large varieties of brands, they offer a one-stop shop for all the consumers' medical, skincare, and health & beauty needs. They carry out professional, free and unbiased diagnosis and advise on how to look after the health and beauty of the skin, so it's no surprise Irish women are such devotees.
